The house had every bit of the detail buyers say they come to Brooklyn for. It was stunning, but not enough to move the needle. The problems were small and fixable, but small problems are exactly what stall a buyer who can't get excited enough to look past them.

So we went room by room and left nothing alone. An empty storage closet became a homework room for the kids. The dark, street-facing den on the ground floor became a bright family room you'd actually want to sit in. The point was to give someone so much to feel good about that the minor concerns disappeared underneath it.

This time, buyers could see everything it had to offer.
